Metal drill bit with a carbide tip 4x65mm
The metal drill bit with a tip of sintered carbide is intended for materials on which common HSS drill bits stop being enough. The cutting part of YG8 carbide reaches a hardness of around 90 HRA, so it keeps its cutting edge even where high-speed steel rounds off after just a few holes.
The carbide moreover succumbs to abrasion markedly more slowly and does not lose its hardness at an increased temperature, which extends the service life of the drill bit during series work. The body of the drill bit is of 40CR steel. The carbide is hard but brittle, therefore the drill bit belongs in a common drill at the recommended speed and not in hammer mode.
