The M3x0,5 mm hand tap set is intended for the small threads you meet in electronics, model making, fine mechanics or when repairing small covers and brackets. With such small diameters, gradual cutting is the key — with a single tool you would easily break the tap.
The three taps work in order: the taper tap makes the first cut, the plug tap deepens and shapes the thread, and the finishing tap gives it its precise final profile.
